November
  • The Center's first visit to the campus of a prospective client occurred in November. There have been many other inquiries and conversations, but no signed contracts.

October September
  • Presentation in September as part of a panel of the Science and Technology Braintrust on Preparing Our Children for Careers of the Future, Annual Legislative Conference, Congressional Black Caucus.

August
  • A roster of consultants is formed. Over two dozen colleagues have agreed to serve subject to scheduling and appropriateness to client needs. Contractor agreements are completed on a rolling basis. An invitation for candidate names and contact information is included on the web site and in publications describing the Center.

  • A 7-person Capacity Center Advisory Committee was confirmed. A Committee meeting is scheduled in conjunction with the February 2006 AAAS Annual Meeting in St. Louis

  • The AAAS Capacity Center is launched in August 2004, with a 3-year grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Announcement of the award in Science, Black Issues in Higher Education, Diversity Inc, and other journals provides initial publicity.
