Merck/AAAS Undergraduate Science Research Program

Eligibility Criteria

Public and private colleges and universities that meet all of the following criteria are eligible to submit proposals:

  • Located in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico
  • Currently offer an American Chemical Society-approved program in chemistry
  • Confer 10 or fewer graduate degrees annually in biology and chemistry combined
  • Defined by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service Tax Code as a not-for-profit entity under section 501(c)(3)
  • Not a current Merck / AAAS USRP Award Recipient

Award Selection
Each application is reviewed and rated by an independent panel of scientists and educators in the biological and chemical sciences chosen by AAAS. The panel recommends award selections to the Merck Institute for Science Education. Award selection criteria are listed in the application.
